Bangladesh’s renowned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from international cricket.

During a press conference in Kanpur, India, ahead of the second Test, Shakib confirmed that the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan will be his final ODI tournament, marking his retirement by March 2025. He had already retired from T20 cricket after playing his last match in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Shakib also expressed his desire to finish his Test career with a two-match series against South Africa in October. However, if that doesn’t happen, his upcoming Test could be his last. The player has been accused of murder in Bangladesh and hasn’t returned since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. He has played 70 Tests, 247 ODIs, and 129 T20s since his 2006 debut.
