Shaheen puts reports of missing Sri Lanka tour to bed with practice video

The video shows Shaheen practising with the red ball and expressing his desire to return to the game’s longer format. Shaheen said in his tweet that the red ball has a distinct feel and significance in Test cricket.

“Red ball has a unique vibe. It’s the! #TestMatch ” Shaheen posted a tweet to his Twitter account.

Previously, a local media site speculated that Shaheen would skip the July Test series against Sri Lanka, citing worries over his workload management ahead of the 2017 ODI World Cup. However, Shaheen’s video appears to contradict these rumours, indicating that he intends to play in the Test matches.

Shaheen is currently playing Nottinghamshire in England’s T20 Blast, where he has taken 13 wickets in nine matches. The club management, notably coach Mickey Arthur, has been closely monitoring Shaheen’s progress amid concerns about his workload. On Twitter, Arthur addressed these worries, noting that Shaheen actually needs to increase his workload in order to be better prepared for Test cricket. He stressed that Shaheen’s bowling workload are constantly evaluated to ensure his preparedness for the longer format.

Shaheen’s red-ball practise video, as well as the team’s active involvement in monitoring his workload, providing assurances that he intends to participate in the Test series against Sri Lanka.
