As per the reports, the selection panel led by Haroon Rasheed, is considering a proposal to rest some senior players, including current all-format captain, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan. The idea is to give young cricketers a chance and build a team for 2024 T20 World Cup.

Few players including Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub and Osama Mir are under consideration to join the national team due to their exceptional performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Meanwhile, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday jointly agreed to make slight tweaks to the itinerary of the series.

The start of the series is brought forward by a day and will now start on March 24, with the last two games to be played on March 26 and 27 in Sharjah, UAE
