Shaheen Afridi Named Pakistan’s New ODI Captain, Replacing Rizwan

Pakistan cricket is gearing up for significant leadership and squad changes, with reports suggesting that Mohammad Rizwan is likely to be replaced as ODI captain by star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. Sources indicate that Afridi has emerged as the top contender to lead the national team in the 50-over format.

According to insiders, the national selection committee has finalized Pakistan’s T20 squad, with an official announcement expected next week. The selectors are reportedly striving to strike a balance between experienced players and promising young talent as Pakistan readies for upcoming international fixtures.

Former captain Babar Azam is expected to make his return to the squad, while Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris are likely to retain their places despite inconsistent recent performances. Meanwhile, pacers Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf are expected to stay in the lineup, with Naseem Shah returning after recovering from injury.

However, Khushdil Shah and Hussain Talat are likely to be dropped. Young all-rounder Irfan Niazi is being considered for a comeback, though finalizing his inclusion could be challenging as team management reconsiders Rizwan’s role. These changes mark a potential shift in Pakistan’s cricket leadership and team strategy moving forward.
