Pakistan’s premier fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has set his sights on dismissing some of the biggest names in cricket — including Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and David Warner — as he gears up for the 15th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). Speaking in a recent podcast, the left-arm pacer shared his excitement and competitive spirit ahead of his stint with Brisbane Heat.
When asked which batter’s wicket he values the most among the trio, Afridi diplomatically responded, “For me, it’s all three.” He emphasized that each player is a match-winner in their own right and taking their wickets would be a key achievement.

Afridi also highlighted the significance of Pakistani representation in the BBL this year, with up to seven players from the country set to feature. “We just played together in the PSL, and these guys — Babar, Rizwan, Shadab — are big names. It’s always a great challenge playing against them,” he said, adding that such matchups will be a treat for the fans, especially the Pakistani community in Australia.
Known for his electrifying first-over spells, Afridi expressed his ambition to deliver early breakthroughs and energize the crowd with his trademark celebrations. “It will be even more special if I get a wicket in the first over again,” he added, noting the motivation he draws from fan support.
Afridi also praised Babar Azam as one of the most consistent performers in world cricket, showing admiration for his former national teammate while preparing to face him as a rival in the BBL.
