Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has vowed to return stronger next season after his side’s disappointing defeat to Lahore Qalandars in the HBL Pakistan Super League clash at Gaddafi Stadium. The Qalandars built a formidable total on the back of fiery innings from Mohammad Naeem and Kusal Perera, putting United under pressure early in the match.
In reply, Islamabad’s batting line-up faltered, despite a valiant effort by Salman Ali Agha and a quick cameo from Shadab himself. The team’s struggle to build lasting partnerships ultimately led to their campaign coming to an early end.

Speaking after the loss, Shadab acknowledged the team’s failures, particularly in death bowling and during the opposition’s powerplay. He also explained the decision to promote youngster Muhammad Shahzad to the opening spot in place of Alex Hales, noting it as a tactical move that didn’t work out this time.
Despite the setback, Shadab highlighted Sahibzada Farhan’s consistent contributions as a key positive from the tournament and assured fans that the squad would analyse its mistakes thoroughly. “We’ll learn and come back better next season,” he pledged.
