Severe Heat Wave Expected to Grip Pakistan This Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning for an intense heat wave likely to affect most parts of the country starting May 15. A high-pressure weather system is forecast to push temperatures well above seasonal norms.

The heat wave is expected to be particularly severe in Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Balochistan, where temperatures may soar 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above average. The southern regions are likely to bear the brunt of the extreme heat through May 20.

Meanwhile, Central and Upper Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to experience unusually high temperatures, with forecasts predicting a rise of 5 to 7 degrees above normal.

Authorities are urging citizens to take precautions, stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, and keep vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly safe during the peak heat hours.
