Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Faisal and Lahore’s Ring Road, among other major routes, will be closed today as part of security arrangements for the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Despite a public holiday announced by the Karachi City Commissioner, certain institutions such as commercial banks, the Pakistan Stock Exchange, and government offices will remain open.

In Karachi, roads from the Airport to PIDC traffic intersection, both lanes of Sharea Faisal, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, and Guru Mandir to Garden Chowk on M.A. Jinnah Road will be closed from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Similarly, in Lahore, several areas will be closed to general traffic upon the arrival of the Iranian President. Ring Road will be inaccessible for all forms of transport from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm today, with traffic from outside Lahore being diverted from Kala Shah Kaku.

President Raisi is scheduled to visit Lahore and Karachi on Tuesday, including visits to Mazar-e-Iqbal and Mazar-e-Quaid.

To ensure security during the Iranian President’s visit, Pakistani authorities have intensified security measures, with significant deployments of police, Rangers, and security personnel expected in major cities.

Residents of Karachi and Lahore are advised to plan their travel accordingly, as these security measures are likely to disrupt daily routines.
