Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that every member of Pakistan’s Senate will be granted a license for prohibited-bore weapons. This decision was revealed during a session of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior and is seen as a move to address longstanding concerns among lawmakers regarding security.

The issue was first raised by Senator Palwasha Khan, who pointed out delays in the issuance of arms licenses to parliamentarians. In response, Minister Naqvi assured that all members of parliament would receive their licenses without further delay, and steps would be taken to streamline the process.

He further noted that the number of licenses would be increased in areas experiencing deteriorating law and order conditions. This step aims to enhance the personal security of lawmakers in volatile regions, where threats to public figures have reportedly risen.

Additionally, Minister Naqvi directed authorities to issue refunds to individuals who had paid for arms licenses during the previous government’s tenure but never received them. This includes both citizens and officials affected by administrative lapses, ensuring fairness and accountability in the licensing system.
