The Senate Panel has expressed serious concern over the slow pace of work on the new Parliamentary Lodges project in Islamabad. The chair warned that, if progress continues at the current rate, the project may not be completed even by 2030.
Chaired by Senator Nasir Butt, the sub-committee of the Senate Panel reviewed the status of 104 new lodges being constructed for parliamentarians. Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) presented a 3D model of the under-construction lodges. However, the absence of the project contractor drew sharp criticism from the panel members.
Senator Butt highlighted the slow progress, saying, “It won’t be completed even by 2030.” He also questioned conflicting statements from CDA officials, particularly claims that one lodge was ready for inspection. During the session, CDA denied making such claims, prompting Senator Butt to call the Deputy Chairman Senate, who confirmed the earlier briefing.
“There’s nothing on the ground yet,” Butt remarked, expressing frustration over what he described as misleading information provided to senior officials.
In response, CDA requested 10 days to complete a sample lodge for demonstration. The authority assured the Senate Panel that members could visit the site once the model was ready. The panel also approved a summary of Rs. 3 billion for the renovation of old lodges and instructed CDA to start construction immediately.

The session highlighted the urgent need for accountability and efficiency in government projects. The Senate Panel emphasized that continued delays could significantly affect the completion timeline and the overall quality of the lodges.
