Section 144 Imposed in Rawalpindi Ahead of PTI Rally

In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) major rally in Swabi today, the Punjab government has implemented Section 144 in Rawalpindi for three days, restricting gatherings, rallies, and the display of weapons, as reported by Express News. This directive, issued by Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema, aims to maintain public order as security forces remain on high alert, especially with PTI convoys traveling through Rawalpindi and Attock.

Additional security personnel have been deployed, including 1,500 officers from four districts, under the oversight of Rawalpindi’s Regional Police Officer (RPO). These officers, equipped with tear gas and riot control gear, are supported by logistical provisions, including transportation and food, arranged by the Central Police Office (CPO) Rawalpindi and District Police Office (DPO) Attock.
