These data come from CloudTech24 consultants, who discovered that online interest in the term ‘delete Snapchat’ increased fivefold in the last three months.

Searches for “how to delete Snapchat account” have increased by 70% in the previous week, and the TikTok hashtag #SnapchatAI currently has over 180 million views.

This occurred shortly after Snapchat chose to make its new AI features available to all 375 million users. Needless to say, the reception has been mixed, with many users wishing to remove their accounts.

For those who are unfamiliar, Snapchat’s MyAI brought a chatbot to the app that collects data on users to make conversations feel more friendlier. It was also chastised earlier this year when it was made available to paying Snapchat+ users for offering improper responses to young teenagers.

CloudTech24’s spokesman responded to the findings:

The My AI function uses data collected by Snapchat about each user to make its interactions feel more like a discussion with a friend. However, some users see this as a breach of privacy, raising concerns about how their data is being utilised. The chatbot was also chastised lately, when it was only available on Snapchat+, for making improper and risky responses after being alerted it was speaking to young teenagers. These data provide an eye-opening glimpse at the startling growth in Snapchat users worldwide looking to terminate their accounts, with many arguing the new feature is a violation of privacy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
