Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is actively seeking a new chief executive officer (CEO) to succeed Amir Hayat, whose term has concluded. The airline has published an advertisement inviting applications from candidates aged between 45 and 57 years, with the requirement of at least 20 years of experience managing large corporations or a minimum of 10 years in aviation industry management. Interested candidates have 15 days to apply for the role.
In a related development, PIA has been embroiled in a dispute with the Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAEP) over corruption allegations. SAEP accused the airline of mismanagement and corruption, particularly concerning the sale of faulty aircraft engines. PIA attempted to seal the SAEP office in response to these claims, but engineers preemptively locked the office themselves.

Owais Khan Jadoon, SAEP’s secretary, criticized PIA’s actions, stating that the airline was targeting them for exposing corruption, and emphasized that the team lacked a written order to seal the office. On the other hand, PIA’s spokesperson insisted that they had the necessary authority to close the office and dismissed the corruption claims. The spokesperson explained that the sale of faulty engines followed standard industry regulations, a common practice in aviation.
