Saudi Arabia Launches World’s First AI Doctor Clinic, Pioneering Medical Innovation

Saudi Arabia has become the first country globally to open an artificial intelligence (AI) doctor clinic, marking a groundbreaking step in medical technology and healthcare delivery.

A Landmark China-Saudi Partnership

Launched in April 2025, the AI clinic is a collaboration between Shanghai-based Synyi AI and Saudi Arabia’s Almoosa Health Group. Situated in the eastern Al Ahsa region, the pilot clinic introduces an AI-powered virtual doctor named “Dr. Hua.”

This marks Synyi AI’s first international expansion since its inception in 2016, during which it has partnered with over 800 hospitals and medical institutions across China.

How Dr. Hua Operates

Patients interact with Dr. Hua through a tablet interface, entering symptoms and answering follow-up questions posed by the AI. The system analyzes diagnostic inputs, including ECGs and X-rays, and develops a treatment plan. Crucially, all AI-generated treatment plans are reviewed and approved by licensed human doctors, combining the efficiency of AI with professional medical oversight.

Synyi AI CEO Zhang Shaodian highlighted the significance of this advance:
“AI has traditionally supported doctors. Now, we are taking the final step—enabling AI to diagnose and treat patients directly.”

Accuracy and Current Scope

Internal testing indicates an impressive error rate of less than 0.3%, demonstrating strong reliability. Currently, Dr. Hua diagnoses and manages 30 respiratory conditions such as asthma and pharyngitis. The clinic aims to broaden its scope within a year to cover up to 50 diseases, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, and dermatological conditions.

Future Expansion and Accessibility

The AI clinic is currently offering free services during its trial phase, gathering diagnostic data to be evaluated by Saudi health authorities. Full commercial rollout will proceed after regulatory approval.

Synyi AI plans to extend this AI clinic model to additional hospitals across Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East, signaling a new era in healthcare delivery powered by artificial intelligence.
