Saudi Arabia Implements Reforms in Visas of Foreign Domestic Worker

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Saudi Arabia has implemented fresh guidelines governing the issuance of work visas for foreign domestic workers, aligning with its broader initiative to modernize the labor market and establish transparent and equitable relationships between employers and domestic workers.

The Ministry of Human Resources has elevated the standards for obtaining visas for hiring foreign domestic workers, with a particular focus on individuals aged 24 and above, aiming to foster a more mature and responsible workforce in the domestic sector.

The revamped rules dictate that Saudi citizens, Gulf nationals, foreign wives of Saudi men and their mothers, as well as holders of Saudi premium residency permits, are eligible to apply for visas.

However, eligibility is contingent upon the financial capacity of the employer, reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of domestic workers.

Central to this transformation is the Musaned platform, a comprehensive system developed by the Ministry of Human Resources.

This digital platform not only informs users about their rights and responsibilities but also facilitates various services, including visa applications, recruitment requests, and employment relationship management. It also streamlines the transfer of wages through digital means, such as STC Pay and Urpay apps.

The new regulations cover a broad spectrum of domestic worker categories, including housekeepers, drivers, housemaids, cleaners, cooks, guards, farmers, tailors, live-in nurses, tutors, and nannies. The overarching goal is to bring transparency and efficiency to the recruitment process, establishing a robust mechanism for dispute resolution that safeguards the rights of both employers and domestic workers.

This initiative is in line with Saudi Arabia’s ongoing endeavors to modernize its labor market, ensuring equitable treatment and clear contractual relationships within the domestic labor sector.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
