He became the first batter in Test history to score a half-century in each of his first seven Tests. Surpassing cricket legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Basil Butcher, Saeed Ahmad, and Bert Sutcliffe, Shakeel’s consistency with the bat is remarkable.
In the match, he came to the crease when Pakistan was at 210-3 in the first innings, in response to Sri Lanka’s 166. Scoring 57 runs, he played a crucial role in extending Pakistan’s lead to over 150 runs, thanks to a solid partnership with Abdullah Shafique.

Notably, in the first Test in Galle, Saud Shakeel made history by becoming the first Pakistani batsman to score a double century on Sri Lankan soil. His outstanding innings of 208 not out surpassed the previous highest individual Test score by a Pakistani in Sri Lanka, held by Mohammad Hafeez (196).
In addition, Shakeel’s double century in the first away Test match of a series made him only the second Pakistani batsman to achieve this milestone since Zaheer Abbas in 1971. His achievements continue to elevate his status in the world of cricket.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
