Sarfaraz Criticises India’s Conduct After U19 Asia Cup Loss

Pakistan Under-19 team mentor and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has sharply criticised India’s on-field conduct during the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 final, calling it “unethical” and against the true spirit of cricket. At the same time, he praised his own players for maintaining professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the high-pressure encounter.

Pakistan produced a dominant performance in the final at Dubai’s ICC Academy, setting a daunting target of 348 runs before dismissing India for just 156 in 26.2 overs. The emphatic 191-run victory secured Pakistan’s maiden ACC U19 Asia Cup title and marked a historic achievement for the young side.

Addressing a media conference in Islamabad after the triumph, Sarfaraz expressed disappointment over India’s behaviour during the match but stressed that Pakistan chose to celebrate their success with dignity. He said cricket should always be played in the right spirit, adding that Pakistan focused on discipline and respect despite provocation.

Sarfaraz also revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a cash reward of Rs10 million for each player in recognition of their outstanding achievement. He expressed confidence that these young cricketers would continue to bring pride to the country in the years ahead.

Following their title win, the Pakistan Under-19 squad received a warm welcome in Islamabad. The Prime Minister hosted a luncheon in their honour, congratulating the players and management. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and several federal ministers attended the event, underlining the importance of the victory. Praising the team’s all-round effort, Sarfaraz highlighted Sameer Minhas’ brilliant 172 off 113 balls, while also stressing the value of Ahmed Hussain’s steady 56, which helped build the massive total. Head coach Shahid Anwar credited the success to a rigorous talent hunt and intensive training camps, saying the team aimed not only to win the trophy but also the hearts of fans—a goal he believes they achieved.
