Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed was rearrested on Wednesday by Gujranwala police in a different case as her release order arrived at Sargodha jail, where she had been held for over a year due to charges related to the May 9, 2023 riots.
Sanam’s father filed a habeas corpus petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking her release from what he termed “illegal detention” by the jail authorities.

Sargodha jail officials admitted in the LHC that they had received the “Robkar” — release order — in the case where she had been granted bail by an anti-terrorism court.
