Former Pakistan women’s cricket captain Sana Mir has made history by becoming the first female cricketer from Pakistan to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. The International Cricket Council announced her inclusion among seven elite cricketers honoured in 2024, alongside legends like India’s MS Dhoni and South Africa’s Graeme Smith.
The induction ceremony took place at London’s Abbey Road Studios, near Lord’s Cricket Ground, ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final. Mir, who played 226 international matches between 2005 and 2020, was recognized not only for her impressive on-field record but also for her significant contributions to promoting women’s cricket in Pakistan and worldwide.

Mir holds several records, including being Pakistan’s leading ODI wicket-taker with 151 wickets and the first Pakistani woman to reach 100 ODI wickets. She also led Pakistan to two Asian Games gold medals and became the first Asian woman to play 100 T20 internationals. Beyond cricket, Mir is noted for her advocacy on mental health and body positivity.
The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hailed the induction as a proud moment for the nation, praising Mir’s dedication and role as a role model for future generations. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the outstanding careers of the seven inductees, celebrating their lasting impact on the sport.
