Salman Ali Agha Out in Strange Incident vs Bangladesh

A rare and unusual incident occurred during the 2nd ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh when Salman Ali Agha was run out while returning the ball to the bowler.

The incident took place in the 39th over, bowled by Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Mohammad Rizwan was on strike, while Salman Ali Agha stood at the non-striker’s end.

Rizwan blocked the fourth ball of the over, and the ball rolled toward Salman Ali Agha. As he bent down to hand it back to the bowler, Miraz quickly picked up the ball and threw it at the stumps. At that moment, Agha was standing outside the crease.

The bowler immediately appealed, and the on-field umpire referred the decision to the third umpire. After reviewing the play, the third umpire ruled Salman Ali Agha out, ending his innings of 64 runs off 62 balls.

The dismissal sparked criticism from former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez, who described the action as poor sportsmanship. Hafeez argued that such dismissals go against the spirit of cricket and should be avoided.

This is not the first controversial dismissal involving Bangladesh. During the 2023 World Cup, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan timed out Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews, which also sparked debate among fans and experts.

The incident has reignited discussions on cricket ethics and fair play. Many fans and analysts question whether such dismissals reflect the true spirit of the game.

Despite the controversy, Salman Ali Agha’s innings was widely praised for its resilience and impact. Pakistan continues to rely on Agha’s consistent performances as a key middle-order batsman.
