Pakistan’s young opener, Saim Ayub, is on the verge of a major comeback as he prepares to undergo a crucial fitness test at the National Academy in Lahore. The test will determine his participation in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL), contingent on medical clearance.
Ayub has made significant strides in his recovery after suffering an ankle fracture during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January. The injury, which occurred while fielding, required him to undergo treatment in London, arranged by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Having completed over two months of rehabilitation, Ayub has returned to Pakistan, where PCB sources have confirmed that his recent medical reports from the UK show promising signs of recovery. The PCB’s medical panel will now assess his fitness and provide guidelines for his future involvement in cricket.
Ayub is set to spend Eid with his family in Karachi but remains focused on clearing the upcoming fitness test. His potential return to PSL could provide a much-needed boost to Peshawar Zalmi, though his availability will only be confirmed after the medical evaluation in Lahore.
