“My Whole Life Flashed Before Me” Saif Ali Khan Recalls Surviving Attack

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has shared details about the terrifying attack he survived earlier this year. He said, “My whole life flashed before my eyes like a movie” during the incident.

In January, an intruder entered Saif Ali Khan’s Mumbai home late at night. The 55-year-old actor was with his children, Taimur and Jeh, when the attacker, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, wielded a wooden weapon and blade. Both Saif and a staff member were injured in the attack.

Saif Ali Khan recalled that his first instinct was to protect his children while defending himself. He sustained multiple injuries, including a serious wound near his spine, and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

Speaking to Esquire India, Saif Ali Khan said he feels extremely lucky to have survived. “There’s this crazy sense of how lucky one is because [the knife attack] was damn close. To walk away relatively unscathed is nothing short of miraculous,” he shared.

While lying injured, the actor reflected on his life. He said his thoughts were not about fame or wealth but about his wife, children, and precious memories. “At that time, I thought of how colorful life has been—the travels, the wine, my wife, my children. Those are everything,” he explained.

The actor also emphasized the importance of home security following the attack. “My takeaway is that you must lock doors and be careful. We have a lot, and a lot do not. So while I am grateful, we must understand that and be careful,” Saif Ali Khan advised.

He urged others to take precautions, including locking entry points and upgrading security systems, to prevent such incidents. The actor’s experience highlights the importance of safety measures in homes across India.
