Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan etched his name in history by becoming only the second Pakistani to score a century in a T20 World Cup. His magnificent unbeaten 100 off 58 deliveries lifted Pakistan to an imposing 199 for 3 in their final group-stage fixture at the Sinhalese Sports Club.

With this achievement, Farhan joined Ahmed Shehzad, who struck 111* against Bangladesh in the 2014 edition, as the only Pakistan batters to register a T20 World Cup hundred.

Pakistan got off to an energetic start after being put in to bat. Farhan and Saim Ayub added 40 runs for the opening wicket before Ayub departed for 14, dismissed by Jack Brassell. Captain Salman Ali Agha then partnered Farhan in a productive 67-run stand, steering the total beyond 100. Farhan brought up his 10th T20I half-century during this phase, continuing to attack confidently.

Brassell struck again to remove Agha for 38, leaving Pakistan at 107 for 2. In a tactical move, Babar Azam was held back while Khawaja Nafay was promoted but managed only five runs before falling to Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus.

As the innings progressed, Shadab Khan provided solid support, adding quick runs while Farhan anchored the innings. Farhan eventually reached his maiden T20 World Cup century, becoming the third centurion of the 2026 tournament after Pathum Nissanka and Yuvraj Samra.

Farhan’s knock, featuring 11 fours and four sixes, ensured a powerful finish. Shadab contributed 36 off 22 balls as Pakistan concluded their innings strongly ahead of the decisive phase of the tournament.
