Russia Condemns Attacks on Iran Nuclear Sites, Warns of Catastrophic Risks

Russia has strongly condemned recent attacks on Iran’s Nuclear facilities, warning of serious risks to regional and global safety. Officials say such actions could increase tensions and lead to dangerous consequences.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said the strikes targeted peaceful Nuclear installations. She highlighted concerns about the potential release of radiation, especially after reports of attacks near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

According to Russian officials, earlier strikes also hit key sites such as the Khondab Heavy Water Complex and the Ardakan Uranium Plant. These facilities are part of Iran’s broader Nuclear program. Zakharova stated that targeting such locations is extremely dangerous and could lead to large-scale environmental damage.

She added that these attacks are worsening the already tense situation in the Middle East. The region has been facing rising instability due to ongoing conflicts. Russia believes that further escalation could have wide-reaching impacts beyond the region.

Zakharova also described the strikes as a violation of international law. She stressed that attacks on Nuclear sites break global safety standards and agreements. In particular, she mentioned concerns related to the International Atomic Energy Agency and its role in ensuring nuclear safety.

The Russian Foreign Ministry urged the international community to respond firmly. Officials called on the IAEA to take a clear and strong position on the issue. They emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent further escalation.

Russia also warned that such actions go against the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. This treaty is designed to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and promote safe use of nuclear energy. Violating its principles could weaken global security systems.

Officials further stated that continued attacks could result in loss of life and long-term damage. They urged those responsible to stop immediately and avoid further conflict. According to Russia, diplomatic solutions are the only way forward.

Experts agree that targeting nuclear sites carries serious risks. Even limited damage can lead to long-term environmental and health effects. This makes such facilities highly sensitive during conflicts.
