The crisis escalated after what Pakistan claims was a false flag operation by India in the Pahalgam area of Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of more than two dozen tourists. In response, India blamed cross-border elements and suspended key provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan condemned India’s actions as “unilateral and provocative,” issuing a firm diplomatic rebuttal.

Amid rising fears of military escalation, Russia called for calm. The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed a meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador Khalid Jameel and Deputy Foreign Minister, where the recent attack, regional tensions, and broader bilateral issues were discussed.
