Russia has issued a strong condemnation of the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, denouncing the attacks as a “blatant violation” of international law and a serious threat to global security.
In a statement on Sunday, Moscow criticized the strikes—carried out in the early hours of June 22—as reckless and unlawful, warning they could escalate into a broader conflict in the Middle East.

“The decision to launch missile and air strikes against the territory of a sovereign state, regardless of the stated reasons, is a clear breach of the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions,” the Russian foreign ministry stated.
Russia also voiced particular concern that the strikes were carried out by a permanent member of the UN Security Council, a body tasked with upholding international peace and security.
Moscow further warned of potential radioactive fallout, noting that while the full impact remains uncertain, the escalation presents significant dangers to both regional and global stability.
According to the statement, the attacks have severely undermined the global nuclear non-proliferation framework, damaging the credibility of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and weakening the authority of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Russia urged the IAEA to respond swiftly and transparently, and called on the UN Security Council to take decisive action against what it described as the “confrontational and destabilizing” actions of both the U.S. and Israel.
Moscow concluded by demanding an immediate halt to hostilities and a renewed commitment to diplomatic solutions.
