Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s national team, and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan have forged a formidable partnership in T20 cricket, emerging as the most successful pair in the format. In their fourth match against England, they once again opened the innings and achieved a fifty-plus partnership, setting a new record.
Together, they have notched up fifty or more runs in partnerships on 24 occasions in T20 cricket, with an impressive 10 of those converting into century stands for Pakistan.

This achievement surpasses the previous record held by the renowned IPL pair from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, who managed 23 fifty-plus partnerships. Beyond representing the national team, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have also showcased their synergy for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The Babar-Rizwan duo now leads the T20 format with 3,227 runs in 65 innings, overtaking the partnership record previously held by Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, who accumulated 3,175 runs.
Internationally, they have outperformed Ireland’s Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling, who scored 2,047 runs in 73 innings in the shortest format. Third on the list are India’s Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, with 1,897 runs in 42 innings. This outstanding partnership highlights their remarkable consistency and contribution to Pakistan’s T20 cricket success.
