Restrictions Imposed With Section 144 In Islamabad

The Islamabad Police have announced a strict stance against unlawful gatherings in Islamabad, with the implementation of Section 144 in the federal capital. In an official statement, a spokesperson for the Islamabad Police asserted that while peaceful protests are a fundamental right, any illegal activities will be dealt with through legal measures. The spokesperson issued a warning, indicating that individuals engaging in violent actions will face repercussions.

Several political parties have expressed their intent to protest against alleged irregularities in the recently conducted elections. It is important to note that the elections did not yield a clear majority for any single party. Independent candidates, backed by a incarcerated former prime minister, secured the largest share of seats with 92 out of 264, creating uncertainty regarding the country’s political direction. Political stakeholders are actively working to form alliances and secure the necessary 169 seats in the 336-member lower house of parliament.
