Tragedy struck Fatima Hospital on Friday as prominent medical specialist Sheikh Mehmood was shot dead by an unidentified assailant disguised in a fake Suthra Punjab project uniform. The attacker, posing as a hospital sweeper, opened fire during what appeared to be a premeditated act while pretending to seek medical attention.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Sajid Shaheed Police Station. District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha Suhaib Ashraf, along with investigation teams, arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting. The doctor’s body was moved for legal formalities, and a search operation has been launched to apprehend the suspect.

In related developments, district police conducted raids across various areas and arrested 24 criminals. The arrests resulted in the seizure of narcotics and illegal weapons, according to a police spokesperson.
Separately, during a crackdown on Proclaimed Offenders (POs) and court absconders, police apprehended Hasnain (40), who was wanted for the murder of Muhammad Manzoor (43) over a petty dispute. He had been evading capture since the incident.
