Religious, Civil and Business Groups Reject TLP Strike Call

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) nationwide strike call for Friday against the government crackdown has been rejected by religious scholars, civil society groups, business leaders, and trade associations.

According to reports, these groups not only dismissed the strike but also condemned TLP’s violent actions, terming such protests unnecessary and damaging to public and economic stability.

Business leader Atif Ikram Sheikh said creating chaos over policy disputes harms citizens and causes financial losses. Umar Butt and Lahore Chamber President Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal confirmed that all businesses would remain open, stressing that strikes only hurt the economy and that traders are already engaged with the government on their concerns.

Religious scholars, including Maulana Abdul Manan and Ramzan Pirzada, urged TLP to end its protests, calling the confrontation un-Islamic and unethical. Maulana Haq Nawaz alleged that India was attempting to destabilize Pakistan through local elements, while Zia-ul-Haq Qasim Khan Baloch said blocking roads and disrupting public life was illegal and inhumane.

Hafiz Amir Hamza Rafi added that TLP’s timing was inappropriate, noting that the protest came when Pakistan had recently celebrated a victory over India and peace had been restored in Gaza.
