Pakistan’s capital is set to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference next week, with heightened security measures in place, including the closure of key roads in the twin cities.
A special traffic management plan has been created to ensure smooth flow during the SCO event from October 14 to 16. Rawalpindi CTO Benish Fatima announced the deployment of over a dozen DSPs, 73 senior traffic wardens, 536 wardens and assistants, and more than 600 officers.

To accommodate VVIP movements in Rawalpindi, traffic will be restricted between Chauhan Chowk and Airport Road, and heavy vehicles will be banned from entering the city. Diversions will reroute traffic from Chauhan Chowk to Koral via Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, and Murree Road, among others.
