Rawalpindi Stadium undergoes upgrades in preparation for the Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that key renovation work at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has been completed, making it one of the three venues ready to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Significant upgrades have been made to the main pavilion, media boxes, and spectator enclosures, ensuring that the stadium is fully prepared for the high-profile tournament.

In an official statement, the PCB mentioned that while major renovation work is finished, the installation of new seating in the enclosures is in its final stages. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium on Wednesday for an inspection and was briefed on the progress. He expressed confidence in the venue’s readiness, stating, “An ICC tournament is being held in Pakistan after a long time, and all preparations are complete for this event.”

Champions Trophy Fixtures at Rawalpindi Stadium Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host three crucial group-stage matches for the Champions Trophy:

  • Bangladesh vs. New Zealand – February 24
  • Australia vs. South Africa – February 25
  • Pakistan vs. Bangladesh – February 27

These fixtures are expected to be crucial as teams vie for qualification into the knockout stages, with Pakistan’s match against Bangladesh expected to attract a significant local crowd.

During his visit, Mohsin Naqvi also reviewed the security arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe experience for the tournament. With final preparations nearing completion at Rawalpindi, along with Lahore and Karachi, Pakistan is set to host its first ICC event in over a decade, marking a milestone for international cricket in the country.
