New Deadline Given For Rawalpindi Ring Road Completion

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project has crossed 80 percent completion, with major structural work finished, including bridges and a 22-kilometre asphalted stretch.

The 38-kilometre road from Baanth to Thalian includes a planned Thalian Interchange, linking the route to the Motorway to reduce congestion.

The project is now expected to be completed by the end of April, subject to approval of the revised PC-I by Punjab’s Planning and Development Board.

The revised PC-I has increased the project cost to Rs 53 billion, factoring in flood mitigation measures, the new interchange, and rising construction material prices.

Once approved, the Frontier Works Organisation will begin construction of the Thalian Interchange, while installation of modern signboards and lighting is already underway.

Officials say the project will improve traffic flow for over 18,000 vehicles daily and enhance road safety through advanced flood prevention systems.
