The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) has updated its fee structure, doubling the cost for expedited medical test reports at its Outpatient Department (OPD). This change is aimed at accelerating the turnaround time for test results. Under the new fee structure, new patients will need to pay Rs 400 for file preparation and Rs 1,000 for a doctor’s consultation. Previously, treatment and medicines at the OPD were provided free of charge with just a card.

RIC now offers two fee options for medical tests: standard and expedited. Patients can choose based on their preference for speed. The standard fee schedule includes Rs 110 for an Electrocardiogram (ECG), Rs 1,150 for an Echo, Rs 1,700 for an Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT), Rs 200 for an X-ray, Rs 200 for a Complete Blood Count (CBC), Rs 230 for a c-reactive protein (CRP) test, and Rs 180 for a Renal Function Test (RFT). Expedited fees are set at Rs 220 for ECG, Rs 2,200 for Echo, Rs 3,400 for ETT, Rs 400 for X-ray, Rs 460 for CBC, Rs 700 for CRP, and Rs 360 for RFT. Evening charges are Rs 220 for ECG, Rs 1,500 for Echo, and Rs 3,000 for ETT.
Additionally, RIC has introduced a policy for emergency stent procedures, which will now be carried out only if deemed absolutely necessary and strongly recommended by the doctor.
