Construction on Rawalpindi’s Rs. 35.28 billion Flyover Project has gained momentum, with multiple flyovers and underpasses nearing completion. The project, funded by the Punjab government, covers both city and cantonment areas, aiming to ease traffic and improve urban mobility.
The Flyover Project includes four flyovers and eight underpasses. Officials have now approved an additional flyover at Ammar Shaheed Chowk due to increasing traffic at the interchange. The new structure is estimated to cost Rs. 3.45 billion, with construction expected to start next year after receiving final clearance.
So far, one flyover and two underpasses have been completed. Work continues on two flyovers and three underpasses, while construction on three more underpasses is scheduled to begin on December 20.
The Nawaz Sharif Flyover at Khawaja Corporation Chowk, built for Rs. 4.4 billion, is already operational. Meanwhile, Adiala Road is under redesign and expansion to improve traffic flow. The GPO Chowk and TMA Chowk underpasses, completed at a combined cost of Rs. 5.7349 billion, are also open to commuters.
At Kachehry Chowk, construction of a flyover and underpass, launched on November 3 for Rs. 5.974249 billion, is expected to finish by April 30, 2026. The linked Jinnah Park flyover and underpass, costing Rs. 4.672245 billion, are scheduled for completion by March 30, 2026.

The ongoing Flyover Project is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to modernize Rawalpindi’s infrastructure. Officials expect the new flyovers and underpasses to significantly reduce congestion, improve commuter safety, and enhance overall traffic management in the city.
