Rawalpindi Development Authority Seals Several Buildings Over Violations

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) recently took strict action against illegal constructions on Girja Road. This move aims to stop the spread of dengue by targeting violations of health and safety guidelines.

On Friday, the RDA sealed seven buildings. Five of these were fully constructed, while two were still under construction. Officials found these buildings in breach of dengue prevention protocols. The operation focused on preventing mosquito breeding sites, which can worsen the dengue outbreak in the area.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority enforced this action under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and its own Building and Zoning Regulations of 2021. These laws forbid construction without prior approvals and necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs). The RDA stated that such enforcement is essential for public health and legal compliance.

This campaign was launched on the instructions of Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She has emphasized zero tolerance for illegal development and encroachments in the region. The RDA also highlighted that protecting residents from health hazards like dengue remains a top priority.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority has called on property owners, developers, and local residents to strictly follow dengue safety guidelines. Cooperation with officials is crucial to maintain safe and regulated neighborhoods across Rawalpindi.

This operation shows the Rawalpindi Development Authority’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safe urban development and safeguarding public health in the city.
