In a disturbing case, Rawalpindi Police have arrested a couple, Raheel and Urooj, for their involvement in a honey trap scheme aimed at extorting money from unsuspecting victims. The couple used fake romantic relationships to manipulate individuals into compromising situations, capturing videos, and blackmailing them for money.

The incident came to light when a government employee filed a complaint with the police. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the female suspect, Urooj, lured the victim to her home. Once there, a compromising video of the victim was recorded, and the couple demanded Rs200,000 for his release.

When the victim refused to pay the demanded amount, the suspects continued to blackmail him, demanding an additional Rs510,000. In a further act of extortion, they sent the compromising video to the victim’s friends, putting additional pressure on him to pay. The couple then targeted the victim’s friends, using the same honey trap tactics to extract another Rs410,000.

Authorities have now charged Raheel and Urooj under Section 21 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The case is still under investigation as police work to uncover more details about their operation.

This arrest serves as a reminder of the growing threat of honey trap scams in the region. Authorities are urging the public to be cautious of individuals who may try to exploit them through such deceptive tactics. Citizens are encouraged to report any similar incidents to law enforcement to prevent further exploitation.

The case highlights the importance of staying vigilant and aware of potential scams that can cause significant harm both financially and emotionally.
