Rawalpindi is among the regions facing extreme dry conditions, prompting the city’s Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to declare a drought emergency. The worsening water shortage has raised concerns, with WASA Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf warning that the crisis could escalate if rainfall remains scarce in the coming months. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also predicted below-average rainfall, further deepening the water crisis.

Authorities are urging residents to conserve water while implementing measures to manage the situation. Other regions, including parts of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, are also experiencing worsening drought conditions due to low rainfall and rising temperatures. Over the past five months, mild drought has developed in these areas, with the risk of progressing to moderate drought.
