Rare Golden Tigresses Become Internet Sensations in Thailand
Two rare golden Bengal tigresses, Ava and Luna, have captivated audiences at a zoo in northern Thailand with their cream-colored coats, wide eyes, and incredible performances. The three-year-old siblings, housed at Chiang Mai’s Night Safari, have become viral sensations, drawing massive crowds to their live shows.
These unusually pigmented tigers, born in captivity, made their public debut in June and quickly gained popularity after appearing on the zoo’s social media platforms. Now, they attract sellout crowds to the zoo’s 500-seat arena four days a week, where they perform tricks alongside their trainer, Patcharee Pipatwongchai.

“Seeing this tiger, I think it’s incredibly intelligent and capable of delivering surprising performances like this. I’m happy that Chiang Mai has such smart animals as a key attraction,” said visitor Wirunya Punyokit from Chiang Mai.
According to the Thai National Parks website, the golden tigresses’ rare coloring is due to recessive genes, which give them thick, pale gold fur, faint orange stripes, and cream-colored legs.
Ava and Luna aren’t the first animals in Thailand to achieve viral fame. Earlier, a zoo near Bangkok attracted thousands of visitors with another internet sensation—a baby hippo named Moo Deng.
The tigresses’ growing popularity underscores the unique appeal of rare wildlife in breeding centers and zoos, bringing attention to the conservation of these magnificent animals.
