Social media personalities Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala, both facing multiple cybercrime-related allegations, have successfully obtained protective bail from the Islamabad High Court ahead of their scheduled arrival in the capital.
The court’s order, delivered by Justice Raja Inam Amin, prevents authorities from detaining the duo as soon as they step off the plane on Wednesday. Instead, they have been instructed to appear before the court the following day. This decision comes amid widespread attention on the controversial online figures, who have drawn both followers and scrutiny for their digital activities.
Both Butt and Naniwala are currently under investigation in several criminal cases across different cities, primarily related to cybercrime. Rajab Butt, in particular, has been under the legal scanner for promoting illegal online gambling platforms such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game. Authorities allege that these promotions led to users losing significant sums of money without any legitimate payout, and several of Butt’s online videos have been submitted as evidence in these cases.
This is not the first time Rajab Butt has faced legal issues. In March, he was booked under blasphemy laws and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) over the controversial naming of his perfume “295.” Moreover, in December, Butt was arrested on allegations of possessing illegal weapons and even a lion cub at his residence, further intensifying his reputation for controversy.
The protective bail granted to the two influencers highlights the growing intersection of social media fame and legal accountability in Pakistan. Their cases have sparked widespread discussion about the responsibilities of digital content creators, the reach of cybercrime laws, and the challenges authorities face in regulating online platforms. As both figures prepare to appear in court, the spotlight remains firmly on their activities and the broader implications for social media governance in the country.
