Rainfall Likely to Persist Across Pakistan until September 1

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the ongoing rainfall will continue across much of Pakistan until September 1.

Thunderstorms and rain are expected in Islamabad and parts of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir over the coming days.

Heavy showers may trigger flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, while Malakand and Hazara divisions face the risk of landslides. In Punjab, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and nearby districts are likely to receive intense downpours.

In Azad Kashmir, areas including Kotli, Bagh, Mirpur, Poonch, Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, and Haveli could experience moderate to heavy rainfall, raising the threat of flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding. Karachi and coastal Sindh may also see urban flooding due to strong showers.

Gilgit-Baltistan faces additional risks of landslides and Glacial Lake Outburst Floods in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, and Ghanche.

The NDMA has urged tourists to avoid northern areas until the system weakens, while rescue teams remain on high alert for emergencies.
