Widespread rainfall across Pakistan has provided much-needed respite from the intense summer heat, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicting more showers and thunderstorms over the next two days.
Over the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms were reported in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Kashmir, and northeastern Balochistan, with several areas experiencing heavy downpours.

Rainfall Highlights (in millimeters):
- Punjab: Kasur (71), Okara (67), Sheikhupura (54), Joharabad (49), Sargodha (45), Multan Airport (43), Bahawalnagar & Sahiwal (37), Chakwal (36), Islamabad (35), Lahore Airport (34).
- KP: Malam Jabba (69), Parachinar (23), Charat (15), Saidu Sharif (10).
- Kashmir: Rawalakot (11), Muzaffarabad Airport (10).
- Balochistan: Barkhan (02).
Meanwhile, temperatures soared to 46°C in Dalbandin, Sibbi, and Jacobabad, while Nokundi, Rohri, and Mohenjo-Daro recorded 45°C on Thursday.

The PMD predicts continued rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in:
- Punjab, KP, Kashmir, and northeastern/southern Balochistan (with isolated heavy downpours at night).
- Sindh (southeastern/northeastern regions).
Flash Flood Alert (June 26–28):
- Punjab/KP/Kashmir: Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan.
- Balochistan/Sindh: Musa Khel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Qalat, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot.
Urban Flooding Risk:
- Punjab: Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad.
- Sindh: Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Karachi (June 27–28).
Additional Hazards
- Strong winds/thunderstorms may damage weak infrastructure, including power poles, vehicles, and solar panels.
- Landslides are possible in KP’s mountainous regions, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir, potentially disrupting road traffic.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and stay updated on weather advisories.
