Quetta Gladiators Sign Australian Fast Bowler for PSL 11

Quetta Gladiators have strengthened their squad for the 2026 Pakistan Super League season by directly signing Australian left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson. The franchise aims to add extra pace and international experience to its bowling unit as it prepares for PSL 11, with management focusing on building a more balanced and competitive lineup for the upcoming tournament.

Spencer Johnson is regarded as one of the quickest left-arm pacers in modern cricket and has developed a strong reputation as a T20 specialist. Since making his international debut for Australia in 2023, he has featured in several major franchise leagues around the world, consistently impressing with his raw speed, aggressive approach, and ability to deliver breakthroughs at crucial moments.

His biggest international breakthrough came during Australia’s T20 series against Pakistan in November 2024. Johnson picked up eight wickets across three matches, producing match-defining spells that highlighted his growing impact in the shortest format. That series played a key role in establishing him as a reliable option in Australia’s white-ball setup and increased his value in franchise cricket.

However, Johnson’s progress was temporarily halted after he suffered a back stress fracture, which ruled him out of the entire 2025–26 Big Bash League season with Brisbane Heat. The injury also forced him to miss out on Australia’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, dealing a significant setback at a time when his career momentum was rising.

Before the injury, Johnson enjoyed a memorable 2024 Big Bash League campaign, playing a crucial role in Brisbane Heat’s title-winning run. His standout performance in the final earned him the Player of the Final award, underlining his ability to perform under pressure and deliver on the biggest stage.

Now set to return to competitive cricket, Johnson will be eager to make an impact with Quetta Gladiators in PSL 11. He joins players such as Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq, Hasan Nawaz, and Shamyl Hussain in Quetta’s evolving roster, with the franchise hoping his inclusion will add pace, depth, and match-winning potential.
