Quantum Valley Pakistan Aims to Revolutionize Tech Landscape Ahsan Iqbal

Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a key meeting on Wednesday to assess progress on Quantum Valley Pakistan—an ambitious national initiative aimed at transforming Pakistan into a high-tech innovation hub.

The meeting, attended by top officials from relevant ministries and agencies including Ignite and Dr. Najeeb Ullah from the Science and Technology Division, highlighted the project’s potential as the most transformative techno-national venture in the country’s history.

Emphasizing a civil-military fusion model, the initiative focuses on accelerating innovation through Technology Readiness Levels 3 to 6, with aims to boost industrialization and technological self-reliance. Quantum Valley is set to host advanced science parks focusing on agri-tech, biotech, materials science, and strategic minerals.

The strategic design of the project has been developed in collaboration with the St John’s Innovation Centre at the University of Cambridge, reflecting growing UK–Pakistan cooperation in research and industrial development. The partnership stems from Iqbal’s recent visit to the UK.

Calling it a milestone under the broader STED (Science, Technology, and Engineering for Development) program, Ahsan Iqbal urged all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence, to work collectively for the project’s success. He linked the initiative to past programs like Vision 2010 and national PhD scholarships, positioning it as a leap toward a knowledge-based economy.
