QAU Ranks First as the Country’s Top Institution

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has secured the top position as Pakistan’s premier institution, ranking among the top 400 universities globally in the 2025 Times World University Ranking. Additionally, QAU achieved the 315th spot in the QS World University Rankings, reinforcing its status as the nation’s top university. Despite financial challenges, QAU continues to excel in international rankings, including the Times, QS, and US News rankings.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar congratulated the QAU community, crediting the success to the hard work of faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the ranking committee. He emphasized the need for government and HEC support to maintain QAU’s growth and further elevate Pakistan’s academic standing globally. The National Coordinator of the Inter University Consortium also praised the university, highlighting the potential for more achievements with proper financial backing.

In a separate event, Allama Iqbal Open University’s Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), in collaboration with Rescue 1122 and other organizations, held a seminar for International Disaster Day. The event focused on disaster awareness, featuring live demonstrations and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AIOU and Sheher Saaz to promote disaster prevention efforts.

Speakers at the event, including Professor Dr. Syed Amir Shah and Sheher Saaz Executive Director Almas Shakoor, emphasized the importance of preparedness and community service. First-aid kits were donated to the university, and personal stories of resilience were shared to highlight the value of being prepared for emergencies. ORIC continues to hold similar awareness programs under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasir Mahmood.
