Punjab Unveils Comprehensive 100-Point Plan to Reform Traffic System

Punjab Launches 100-Point Traffic Reform Plan on CM Maryam Nawaz’s Orders

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed traffic police across Punjab to implement a comprehensive 100-point plan aimed at modernizing and streamlining the province’s traffic management system. The initiative seeks to improve road safety, upgrade infrastructure, raise public awareness, and enhance the performance of traffic wardens.

Key components of the plan include increased fines for traffic violations, improvements in road engineering, the installation of awareness signboards, and the deployment of body cameras for on-duty traffic personnel. Major cities have been instructed to deploy 10 body cameras within a week, while smaller towns will receive three cameras each.

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has also been tasked with installing digital awareness screens across the province within 45 days. Additionally, a proposal to increase traffic fines is to be submitted within five days.

Further measures under the reform plan include the recovery of outstanding e-challans, action against illegal rickshaws, updated traffic warden uniforms, revisions to traffic regulations, and detailed performance evaluations of wardens.

Out of the 100 directives, 97 are expected to be implemented within 15 days, while the remaining three—comprising long-term structural reforms—are scheduled for completion within 30 to 45 days.

The initiative represents a significant step by the Punjab government to bring sustainable improvements to traffic flow, enforcement, and public compliance across the province.
