Punjab Traffic Police Issue 76,000+ Fines in 48 Hours

Over the past 48 hours, Punjab Traffic Police carried out a large-scale crackdown on traffic violations, collecting fines exceeding Rs 70 million.

During the operation, 76,000 people were penalized for various offenses, and 1,402 FIRs were registered for serious violations. The crackdown primarily targeted major traffic offenses. More than 11,700 drivers were fined for driving without a license, while over 4,000 were penalized for violating one-way traffic rules. Over 12,000 motorcyclists faced fines for not wearing helmets.

Public transport operators were also held accountable, with 1,397 vehicles fined for overloading and several impounded. Authorities took action against more than 3,000 underage drivers.

Other violations included illegal number plates (3,875 cases), improper parking (1,262 cases), and vehicles emitting excessive smoke, leading to fines for over 7,200 vehicles and impounding of some.The police also addressed traffic obstruction caused by beggars and drug addicts, registering 36 cases.

Punjab Traffic Police stressed that the campaign aims to enforce traffic laws, reduce accidents, and enhance road safety.
