Punjab To Privatize Many Government Schools For Improvement

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]To enhance education quality and address out-of-school children, Punjab plans to outsource thousands of government schools. This initiative targets 13,219 schools with inadequate educational conditions, aiming to align them with private institutions under a school restructuring program.

The outsourcing will occur in three phases, starting with 5,863 schools, followed by 4,453 and 2,903 schools in subsequent phases. The objective is to attract out-of-school children and raise education standards to match private schools by leveraging the expertise and resources of private entities.

A significant deficiency in staffing is reported in government schools. Among the selected schools, 567 lack teachers, while 2,555 have only one teacher, and 2,741 have two teachers for 50 students.

Under the Punjab Education Foundation, private individuals, tech firms, NGOs, and overseas Pakistanis with educational experience can take over schools. The government will subsidize outsourced schools, and young entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate, as per the Punjab Schools Education Department.

Punjab’s decision to outsource government schools demonstrates a proactive stance in improving the education sector.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
