Punjab to Carry Out Artificial Rain in Rawalpindi to Tackle Rising Smog

LAHORE – In response to the escalating smog situation in Punjab, the provincial government has decided to experiment with artificial rain in Rawalpindi.

The initiative will be carried out if suitable cloud conditions are present. Following the announcement, environmental and other relevant departments have mobilized to Rawalpindi for the operation.

Smog has severely affected various cities across Punjab, including Lahore, which is currently ranked among the world’s most polluted cities. Multan has also experienced a dangerously high pollution index due to smog, leading the provincial government to close the motorway due to low visibility.

The smog problem is aggravated by winds from India, and both fog and smog are now spreading to Rawalpindi and the federal capital, Islamabad.
