The Punjab School Education Department has announced a new step to improve Teacher Transfers across the province. The department will now hold personal hearings for transfer requests submitted on hardship grounds. This move is part of its updated E-Transfer Policy.
Officials said the decision aims to make Teacher Transfers more transparent and fair. Personal hearings will allow authorities to better understand each applicant’s situation. It will also help ensure that genuine cases are given priority.
To manage the process, the department has formed special scrutiny committees. These committees will carefully review all applications before making recommendations. Each case will be examined in detail to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Separate committees have been created based on employee grades. One committee will handle cases for officers in Grade 17 and above. Another committee will review applications from employees up to Grade 16. This structure is expected to improve efficiency in handling Teacher Transfers.
The Additional Secretary of the department will act as the convener of both committees. Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from the respective districts will also be part of the process. Their involvement will ensure that local concerns are properly considered during reviews.
The committees will review appeals on a case-by-case basis. They are required to submit their recommendations within 10 days. This timeline is set to speed up decisions and reduce delays in Teacher Transfers.
Officials said recent amendments to the E-Transfer Policy made these hearings necessary. Under the new system, all appeals must go through a formal hearing process. This step is expected to improve accountability and reduce confusion.
The department believes these changes will strengthen the overall system. Teachers applying for transfers on hardship grounds may benefit from quicker decisions. The new approach also aims to build trust in the Teacher Transfers process.
